Race Info

The 2014 CVS Caremark Downtown 5k will be held on Sunday September 21 in Providence, Rhode Island. Race day features the CVS Caremark Downtown 5k, The Tufts Health Plan High School Inspirational 3K and youth races of varying distances.

The CVS Caremark Downtown 5k is a USATF Championship event with athletes competing for both individual and team champion honors.

All races start and finish on Francis Street which is located on the south side of the Rhode Island State House.

Registration is now available online and through mail-in form. Online registration closes on the Tuesday September 17.

Time and date: Thursday 9/18, 2pm to 6:00 p.m., Friday 9/19 2pm to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 9/20, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Registration and packet pickup will also be available on race morning at Station Park (Gaspee ST & Francis St.) starting at 7:15 a.m.
Costs before Sunday: 5K
- $33. Youth races and High School 3K - $20.
Costs on Sunday: 5K - $35. Youth races and High School 3K - $20.

Please plan to arrive as early as possible and allow yourself time to park and get your number. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED YOU PICK UP YOUR RACE NUMBER BEFORE RACE DAY.

Directions

All races start on Francis Street in front of the Rhode Island State House. (map)

95 North: Take Downtown exit off 95. Francis Street is on left at end of highway exit ramp. Note: Francis Street will be closed at 7 a.m. on race day. Follow yellow/red signs for limited free parking at R.I. State House lots.

From 95 South: Take I-95 North to exit 23 (State Offices exit). Bear towards RI-7/State Offices Exit. At light, continue straight onto State Street. Free R.I. State House parking lots are available on State Street. Take a right at the next light onto Smith Street for additional parking. The State House will be directly on your left.

Parking

There are approximately 1000 free parking spaces at the Rhode Island State House. Most State House parking lots can be accessed from Smith St. (Route 44). Parking spaces will be given out on a first-come, first-served system. The free State House parking spaces will be full very early. There are also 4,000 plus paid parking spaces at Providence Place Mall's garage and an additional 2,000 more paid parking spaces at the Rhode Island Convention Center garage.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK CARS ON THE COURSE WHERE "NO PARKING" SIGNS ARE POSTED. CARS WILL WILL BE TOWED FROM THE "NO PARKING" POSTED AREAS.

Awards presentation will take place on the State House Lawn.

Corporate Team Awards: Top five teams in the men's and the women's divisions.
Corporate Women's Division: Any number can be on a team. Top 3 finishers times will be combined to score. Lowest combined time of top 3 finishers will determine team place.
Corporate Men's Division: Any number can be on a team. Top 3 finishers times will be combined to score. Lowest combined time of top 3 finishers will determine team place.

Family and Friends: Team will receive an award. (Top three to score) All family and Friends teams must enter online. Gym/Health Health Club Teams: Team will receive an award. (Top three to score) All gym/health club teams must enter online.
Youth Races: All finishers will receive medals; top five finishers in each youth race will receive a trophy.
All youth awards will be made immediately after each youth race at the finishing line area.

Entertainment
