The CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K would like to celebrate physical fitness among our student athletes by extending an invitation to all schools to participate in the CVS/pharmacy Downtown Middle School youth races or High School Inspirational 3K by forming a School Team. Since 1990 the Youth Racing has been an exciting part of the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K. There will be 6 seperate races for Middle Schools. All middle school races will be 1500M (less than a mile) Middle schools are encouraged to enter teams in the youth races. The High School runners will run 3K

All participating schools or track clubs that finish 25 participants on their school race team, will be eligible for ten (10) random drawings for a $500 grant !A total of $5000 will be awarded) for the physical education and/or track programs at their respective schools. In addition, the young athletes who participate in the youth races will receive a medallion. All school runners will receive a t-shirt with official race logo, and a goody bag. Boys and girls can be combined to make up a school team of 25 The top five (5) winners in each Middle School Youth Race age category will receive a trophy. Entry fees will be waived for all School Teams and track clubs that enter online.

RIAHPERD Association for Health, PhysicalEducation, Recreation, and dance will once again be donating $500 to the largest team (note participants are not limited to running teams, anyone that registers as part of the school team and completes the 3K course will be counted and RIAHPERD will award 2nd and 3rd prizes of $250 to the next 2 largest teams that are members of RIAHPERD

This year the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K race will again host the USA National 5K Championship.
This is a wonderful opportunity for young student athletes to see and run with some of the best runners in the world.

The CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K benefits the Rhode Island Community in a number of ways. This event not only brings world-class
athletic competition to Rhode Island and promotes health and fitness but also most importantly raises money for local non-profit organizations.
Last year, the CVS/pharmacy Downtown 5K donated $100,000 to local charities.

Requests to setup school teams can be made by team captains by selecting the "Team Captains" option on the menu located on the left side of this screen.
